Individual counseling, Couples counseling & Sex Therapy, Family Counseling, Career Counseling
Sometimes when people think of counseling or psychotherapy, they think they are going to lie on a Couples Counselingcouch four times a week for ten years and talk about their mothers while the therapist nods and says “Mmhmm”. Talking about the past with a therapist can sometimes help you feel better, and there is no doubt that insights from past behaviors can sometimes help to understand current ones.
While we may discuss past issues and patterns, our goal in therapy is to teach you the tools to not just feel better, but to get better. To do this, we use an eclectic approach influenced by rational emotive behavior therapy, a style of cognitive behavioral therapy. Insight is important, but perhaps even more important is what are you going to do with that insight. This style of therapy will help teach you to challenge your thinking in order to change your mood. You can do it!
