Sarah Silverman gave a great interview this week where she described her battle with depression. She compared it to the flu by saying, “When it came over me, when it comes over me, it feels like it's coming over me like a flu. You ever just sit ... and you're fine and the next moment you just go, 'Oh, Jesus, I have the flu.'" It reminded me of my old supervisor who explained that if I needed to take a mental heath day, I should because taking a mental health day is just like taking a sick day and it should be treated no differently.
I recently read this week that now depression can be diagnosed via blood tests. Hopefully now that there is scientific proof for genetic markers of depression, there will be less of a stigma around it. Now that there are these tests do you think mental health will be treated more like physical health?
