Seeking Help Is A Sign of Strength

In a recent survey conducted for the Anxiety & Depression Associations of America, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention & the National Alliance for Suicide Prevention found that Americans’ perspectives on mental health stigmas are shifting! Researchers found that 90% of Americans value mental health and physical health equally. Results showed that 94% of respondents believe suicide is preventable.

According to Dr. Christine Moutier, “… American adults view mental health and the important role it plays in our everyday lives and see a connection between mental health and overall well-being.” Read the entire CNN article here.

Interestingly, the researchers discovered that respondents ages 18 to 24 are becoming more comfortable with seeking medical help and they are more likely to consider seeking medical health services as a sign of strength. Which it is! Knowing when you need to talk to someone is definitely a sign of strength.  You can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline  1-800-273-TALK (8255) for immediate assistance.
