Ever sit wondering if you are normal? Wondering if what you are doing is socially acceptable? How about wondering what others think about you? I find myself doing it all the time. I’ll put something on, look in the mirror, and say.. “are people going to like what I’m wearing?”
Well let me ask you a question.. Who decided what was normal, not normal, what was socially acceptable, or not? Society has tried to mold us into people that have to hide parts of ourselves to fit in.
Just the other day, someone asked me where I was from. I said I was from Boston and they asked where my accent was. My response was, “Oh no.. I don’t talk like that, I talk normal.” Immediately, after I said that, I realized how wrong that sounded. Who is to say talking with an accent wasn’t normal? However, all I was doing was comparing it to my “normal”.
Let me tell you something ladies and gentlemen, there is NO normal. Sure there are things that you may be used to based on the environment you grew up in and the people you surrounded yourself with, but by no means is there a right or wrong in what we do, or what we say, or what we wear, or what we believe in. So feel free to really be who you are without wondering if it is acceptable. Stop comparing yourself to those around you and live life the way YOU want to live and be comfortable in your own skin. Find out who you really are.
